Israel’s National Infrastructure Committee (VATL) has approved the advancement of flagship plans to establish integrated transportation hubs (multimodal transit centers) at the “HaShalom” and “HaHagana” stations in Tel Aviv. These hubs represent a critical step toward implementing the metro system in the Gush Dan metropolitan area.
The two hubs are part of a planned network of seven multimodal transit centers, designed to provide seamless integration between all major public transport modes—including metro lines, heavy rail, light rail systems, and central bus terminals—creating an efficient and continuous mass-transit system.
The planning framework includes a major upgrade of the surrounding public space, including the partial covering of sections of the Ayalon Highway, construction of new bridges, the addition of bicycle lanes, and the integration of commercial and employment areas. The goal is to transform the stations into active urban hubs rather than transit points only.
In addition, the committee approved the advancement of the “Yellow Line,” a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route connecting Holon, Tel Aviv, Givatayim, Ramat Gan, Bnei Brak, and Ramat HaSharon. The line will integrate into the broader transportation system through connections to rail and metro lines.
